A Palm Sunday to All of You

I finally got the chance to do Street Photography a while ago during the Palm Sunday event at Binondo Church in Manila. There were a lot of people ready to partake in this annual Christian event. I was so happy that kids and vendors were so game to pose in front of my camera. It was a good experience giving joy to simple people. And based on these shots, you’ll pretty much see how much they love their work despite the small wage that they get from their labor. Each “Palaspas” costs at about 15-20 pesos.

So today, we celebrate the Palm Sunday. It is celebrated on the Sunday before the Easter. This event commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Here in the Philippines, people gather at the church with their palm leaves (often tied into crosses) and let these be blessed with holy water by the priest. This is the biggest sign that the Holy Week is coming.
