My Week in Instagram

Here are some of the shots on my Instagram that I took over the past week and a half. Lots of events happened. Went out with awesome friends and family at High Street, MOA, and Glorietta, paid my tuition fee in CSB (Yey! Taft person now!), and did lots of tabletop photography. Probably the highlight of my week would have to be the 2013 National Elections! I’m proud of who I voted and happy that I took part in this Philippines’ future-changing event! All in all, it was indeed a great one.

Project Manila: The Little Juans

It was in 2010 when I started taking Street Photography as the focus of my blog and most of my subjects were street kids who love to pose in front of the camera. I just love going out on the street and take lots of shots. The street is where I belong in photography. I guess people remember most about my photos are those where the subjects are kids. I just love how kids act in front of the camera.

In preparation for JaywalkersPH’s event this coming June 12, I’ll be posting series of street shots sets that were taken at Manila. If you missed my street shots, here it is. I’m glad that a lot of people were requesting for some street shots. Thank you guys, and for that you gave me a great idea and Project Manila was born. I promise to give you fresh street photography soon!

Amici-Caramia, Perfect Combination!

Imagine a Gelato place and an Italian restaurant all in one. Well, that’s Amici-Cara Mia. Amici is the place to go to if you want to buy Italian dishes like pasta, spaghetti, and many more. If your sweet tooth starts to look for desserts you have Cara Mia on the other side! Cara Mia is the area of the resto wherein they sell Gelato cakes and many more Gelato products. It’s under Amici. Their products are just heaven. Having to taste their treats and meals was just a great experience. I also liked their service because the crew were good and properly trained. I swear, you’ll enjoy everything! :)

The owners of Amici-Cara Mia started out in the restaurant business years back. They were the original owners of Red Ribbon (before it was sold to Jollibee). And since they wanted to continue their legacy, they created Amici and Cara Mia. They started creating menus that were kinda more unique but still close to the ones they started already from their previous business.

Amici started as a restaurant selling Italian dishes. As they became famous for serving Italian servings, they continued to expand and try to serve great desserts that’s why Cara Mia was born.

They started making cakes for Cara Mia, but this time with a twist..a Gelato cake. I assure you that every Gelato cake that they make are heavenly since each cake was handcrafted carefully. You can definitely taste the bakers’ handwork. Every sweets they have was just awesome. They also sell scoops of Gelato if you want to try out this healthy treat (Yes, it’s healthier than Ice Cream! Haha).

Visit their stores all over Manila!! The photos above were taken at Amici-Cara Mia Megamall. You won’t regret dining in this place! :)

Daniel Padilla during a blog conference for his upcoming birthday concert this coming April 30 at the Big Dome!

Daniel Padilla is set to conquer the Big Dome on April 30 (Tuesday) for his post-birthday concert that will unleash the ‘old school rocker’ side of him. According to Daniel, who will celebrate his 18th birthday on April 26, his first-ever concert is dedicated to everyone who supports him.

“I’ll do everything to make the show successful,” said Daniel who will introduce his favorite ‘old school rock’ music to his young supporters. “This concert is my gift to my fans. It’s my way of saying thank you to all the support they have given me. We’ll just enjoy on that day.”

Preserving the Beauty of Filipino Dishes at Sentro 1771

I was lucky enough to be invited for a food tasting event at Sentro 1771 in Greenbelt 3. Once you get inside this beautiful restaurant, it’ll transport you to a place like home where you just feel relaxed and comfortable craving for your favorite dish that your lola always serve the family. The ambiance was great since they combined a traditional setting and given a modern twist to it.

My Sentro 1771 experience was so special because we were served with their best dishes accompanied by their crew’s personalized-like service which is so professional. There was not a single dish that I didn’t love. The “Sinigang na Corned Beef” is a must try! It was my first time to hear & taste such dish but it was awesome and it’s also personalized since they will let the customer try a sample soup then they can adjust it to their preferred taste. Even their appetizers and desserts were mouth-watering.

Sentro 1771 is a restaurant that you’ll always look for once you try it. I admit, I was scared to try out this place because I thought it’s super expensive but I was glad to know that it’s actually pretty affordable. If you love Filipino dishes, this is the best place to dine with your family and friends

Nightmare

There was this girl named Kaia who was trapped in a beautiful dream that eventually turned into a nightmare. From an event that highlighted her achievements, she was suddenly transported to an abandoned and dark building. She’s in search for the light that will eventually be her gate to get out of this scary setting.

In the end, she found the light. A dream where she’s the queen of her own kingdom. A dream she never want to wake up from.

The Happy Feet Project

So I’ve been doing this “Happy Feet Project” for the month of April on my Instagram account. I’m so happy seeing the progress of this project. For January, I only used the filter “Hefe”. For February, I only used the filter “Willow”. And for March, I only used the filter “Nashville”. So I decided to change it this April and start something different and cool. You can also think of a project that you can do using your mobile phones.

Tips for a Photowalk

If you’ve been a reader of mine since 2010, you probably know that I held photowalks every now and then. I usually held photowalks in Quiapo to Binondo to Intramuros to Baywalk, all of which are in Manila. I really think that through this, one’s creativity is enhanced. Lots of sights to be seen, amazing subjects to inspire a person, and new things undiscovered will now be discovered. A photowalk is not just about taking photos, it’s also about learning and making new friends.

Photowalk is the act of taking photos with a camera (DSLR, Point-and-Shoot, Film, Mobile, etc.)while walking. Great subjects would just pop everywhere, and when that happens, just click. But it’s not all about the pointing and clicking..Here are some tips for you to enjoy Photowalk.

1.) Know the Place. This would probably be the most important thing that one must know in joining/organizing a photowalk. If you want to walk to a place that you are not familiar with, study it first thoroughly so that you’ll not get lost when you are in the photowalk itself. It’s just like an examination, study hard before taking it.

2.) Prepare your Gear. It’s quite common for people to forget their batteries or memory cards whenever there’s a photowalk, I myself is a victim of not preparing well. You must always be ready with your gear a night before the photowalk.

Charge your batteries.Delete the unnecessary files in your memory card for large available space. When everything’s done, place it in your bag.

You’ll enjoy photowalk so much if you are prepared and not worrying about an empty battery or full memory card, or left them both.

3.) Be Comfortable. Just go light. Wear comfortable clothes, just bring your camera , bring extra clothes and water to energize you. My photowalk usually lasts for at least 5 hours so I guess these things are just enough.

4.) Safety First. For sure, you’ll pass by streets that are quite scary and dangerous. Manila is a city where there are cases of hold-ups and theft so be sure to check your surroundings while walking. Don’t put any gadget or wallet in your pockets just to be sure. But I haven’t encountered any of these circumstances for the past 2 years that I’ve been holding photowalks.

5.) Camera On. Just like what I’ve said earlier, make sure to charge your camera to full because you’ll really need it. If you want to capture great subjects, make sure to leave your camera on or else you wouldn’t capture that perfect moment again. Perfect moments happen in an instant and it wouldn’t last that long.

6.) Just keep Walking. Well, that is photowalk. It’s tiring but by walking, you’ll capture a lot subjects that are worth photographing. But you can at least take a stop for a certain number of minutes to rest and also try to capture still subjects or moving subjects on that stop. Maximize the whole time of the photowalk.

7.) Be Aware. Just look carefully at your surroundings. Pay attention to little details. Sometimes, it’s the small things that make huge impacts. Be aware of the people around you and make sure to not get lost. Be aware of amazing subjects that may pass by your viewfinder. Be aware of your stuff. Just be aware.

8.) Know the Rules. You should know when to take a photo of the subject and know when you are going beyond the limits. Yes you are free to shoot anything that crosses your path but if ever you know you’ll shoot a subject that’s quite explicit, then make sure to ask permission. There’s nothing wrong if you’ll ask a permission to shoot.

9.) Just Have Fun!

10.) Share. I’m pretty sure that you are itching to share your shots to your readers or viewers. Tumblr is one platform where you can share your shots and there are still a lot more.

I hope that you learned something from the tips that I gave you. Good luck on your next photowalk.

Graduation Day

I forgot to post this last Monday! Just wanted to thank my Mom and Dad for supporting me always! I’m so lucky to have you both in my life. I know my stay in UST was kinda rough, but still the both of you never lost faith in me. Definitely a moment that I will cherish forever. And now, I’m so happy that you are with me on the path that I chose to take. A new chapter begins this May. :)

I love you Mom and Dad. :)
